Reference: CHOICES Presentations -
Presenter Guidelines - Hendrix Junior High School, 10-1/2
NOTE - CHANGES have been made for
2002-2003 – all presenters please read.
To All Presenters:
The attached Hendrix Program
Coordination sheet itemizes the times, classes, and teachers for all
presenters. Hendrix Junior High School is located west of Alma School RD, south
of Guadalupe RD (see attached map). If
any problems develop, please contact me at work: (480) 891-6200. I will get back to you as required. All Presenters please note the following
CHANGE!
CHANGE!! After 20+ years
Fortune Cookies have been discontinued! They have been replaced by Fortune
Cards. I strongly recommend you do not mention the old cookies and you are under
no obligation to bring any candy, etc. to the class as a substitute. I plan to encourage the students to keep the
card as reminder of Eleanor Roosevelt’s CHOICES challenge.
ADDITIONAL ITEMS:
Go to the Office, sign in and go as directed to the area where the CHOICES
materials have been stored. All of the
materials will be in the bags with your name/times/classes attached to your
bag. I plan to leave my bag in the
classroom for the second day if possible - you can return yours to the storage
area as you wish.
The “Apartment Hunt Worksheet” was assigned (hopefully) as “Homework” to be graded and
was required to be brought to Day 1’s class.
Be sure and inquire as to the student findings during the “High School
Dropout” exercise at the end of Day 1.
Also, be sure to assign as homework the “Job Hunt Worksheet” at the end
of Day 1 to be completed for day 2. You
can suggest as a supplement to the newspaper and library that they could go to www.hotjobs.com or www.jobs.com or www.monster.com
if they have Internet access. Be sure and
discuss their findings during Day Two’s nine-job exercise.
Also, remember to give the teacher
the Choices Chart at the top of the box to be kept for display in the
classroom.
PLEASE REMEMBER!!! When finished:
Clean off any writing on the transparencies.
Place all unused materials
(handouts, fortune cards, keys) back in
the bag and arrange the notebook in order (transparencies are numbered), and
return to the storage area where you initially picked them up.
After reviewing the
evaluations, leave them with the teacher. The teacher will forward them up-the-line. THIS IS VERY
IMPORTANT!
I trust you will enjoy the “Choices”
experience! Comments/suggestions are always solicited. This is the second 2002-2003 Mesa school so
it is particularly important that you point out to me any problems, etc. with
the new materials, students, etc.
Thanks so much!
